Did your major become your career?

If you went to a trade school or majored in something in college, is that the path you took for your career?

I went to Art School and after I graduated I worked as a graphic designer for some time. Then I quit so I could have my daughter and my husband supported us. When my daughter was a toddler I started doing portraits out of my home so I used my art education for a long time.
